"I don't miss playing cricket anymore," Sourav Ganguly [Images] said as he bid farewell to first class cricket on Sunday, a month after retiring from international cricket.
The former India captain, who quit international cricket after playing in the November 6-10 final Test against Australia [Images] in Nagpur, volunteered to play for Bengal in the Ranji Plate semi-final against Goa [Images] at the Karnail Singh Stadium in New Delhi [Images] to help the team return to the Elite division of domestic cricket.
"Every cricketer has to retire one day and I don't have any sad feelings about the decision (to retire)," Ganguly said after Bengal returned to Ranji Elite division by virtue of their 107-run first innings lead over Goa.
"I am happy that Bengal have qualified for the Elite division. Bengal faced problems for some time due to shifting of allegiance to ICL by some players. But youngsters have filled in the void now and they will do good work in future," said Ganguly who made 69 in the first innings of the semi-final match.
Asked about Bengal pacer Ranadeb Bose who took six wickets in Goa first innings, Ganguly said, "He has done well in domestic cricket but it is unfortunate that he is yet to play Test cricket."
