Bail cancelled for 3 accused in Gulshan Kumar murder case

E-Mail this report to a friend

A Bombay sessions court Thursday cancelled the bail of three gangsters, charged with the murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar, on the ground that they had misused the liberty given to them.

Additional Sessions Judge H S Deshpande cancelled the bail of Imtiaz Dawood Merchant, Adil Khan and Pratap Singh Sukhbir Singh after the prosecution alleged that the trio had allegedly killed Shiv Sena corporator from Mumbra, Zaiuddin Chougale, on February 25 this year.

A special public prosecutor told the court that all the three accused were arrested on March 25 for committing another offence while on bail in Gulshan Kumar murder case.

Prior to their arrest, the trio were not traceable and had also not attended the concerned police station to comply with conditions of their bail granted in 1998, he alleged.

The prosecutor pleaded that all the three accused had misused their liberty and violated bail conditions.

Defence lawyer, however, refuted the police allegation that the accused were untraceable. They were very much available at the address furnished by them to the court. He said the police could have traced them at their address or have even arrested their sureties. He also denied that they had misused bail conditions.

The prosecution has alleged that the trio had conspired to kill Gulshan Kumar and provided vehicles to co-accused for executing the crime. The audio king was gunned down here on August 12, 1997 allegedly by Abu Salem faction of the Dawood Ibrahim gang. Prime accused and music director Nadeem Saifee is fighting extradition proceedings in London.
