Veerappan tape reaches MadrasAnother audio cassette sent by outlaw Veerappan reached the Tamil Nadu chief minister's office in the early hours of Thursday, a spokesman for Tamil magazine Nakkeeran said. The cassette, the fourth to arrive from the jungles since Kannada film star Dr Rajakumar and three others were taken hostage by the bandit on July 30, is accompanied by negatives of some photographs, the spokesman said. The bi-weekly's editor, R R Gopal, is still engaged in negotiations on behalf of the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments with Veerappan and his associates. The tape and the film roll was delivered at the office of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in Madras. The tape is believed to contain a message from Dr Rajakumar, but it was not clear whether Veerappan had given a reply to the government's response to his demands. The photographs were said to be those of the veteran actor to show that he was safe and healthy. PTI
