Gopal reaches Madras with videotape

Nakkeeran editor R R Gopal returned to Madras in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Gopal, who had gone into the jungles to negotiate the release of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajakumar as an emissary of the governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, met the actor and his kidnapper Veerappan in the Sathyamangalam forests.

He is reported to be carrying a videotape, which he will hand over to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Karunanidhi later in the day.
