Two more church blasts suspects held

E-Mail this report to a friend

In another breakthrough, police today arrested two persons in connection with the July 8 bomb blast at the St Lutheran Church at Hubli in north Karnataka, three days after taking into custody a prime accused in the explosion in a Bangalore church.

Rishi Hiremata (30) and Syed Muniruddin Mulla (38), both residents of Hubli, were picked up today and would be produced before the competent jurisdictional court, Director General of Police (Corps of Detectives) V V Bhaskar said in Bangalore.

The Protestant Church was rocked by the blast last Saturday provoking protests from Christians. The incident came close on the heels of the twin explosions in front of a church at Wadi in Gulbarga district in June.

Bhaskar said investigation was progressing in the Wadi bomb blast. The blasts cases are being probed by CoD.

Police had on Wednesday arrested S M Ibrahim, the key suspect in the July 9 blast at St Peter and Paul Church at J J Nagar here.

Ibrahim, who was driving a van carrying explosives similar to the ones used in the church attack here, had survived after the vehicle exploded in flames around the same time of the blast at the church.
