Krishna cancels meet with emissaries

The four emissaries, who were to go to meet Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna in Bangalore on Wednesday, cancelled their trip as Krishna said he would be preoccupied with the visit of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Nakkeeran associate editor A Kamaraj said on Tuesday night that the visit stood cancelled and a fresh date would be decided in consultation with Krishna.

The emissaries include Nakkeeran editor R R Gopal and Tamil Nationalist Movement leader P Nedumaran.

Karnataka inspector general of police K R Srinivasan confirmed that the emissaries were not visiting Bangalore as Krishna would be away in Raichur.

Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had told newsmen that the emissaries would meet Krishna and brief him on their negotiations with brigand Veerappan on securing the release of Kannada film star Dr Rajakumar and Nagesh, being held hostage by him.
