CMs decide to await SC verdict in Veerappan aides case

The governments of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu on Friday decided to await the Supreme Court verdict in the Veerappan associates case before taking any further action to secure the release of Kannada thespian Dr Rajakumar.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Chief Minister S M Krishna of Karnataka and M Karunanidhi of Tamil Nadu. The two had met on Friday morning for two hours in Bangalore.

"We are going to wait till our case is given a final verdict from Supreme Court. And till then no further action will be taken," the chief ministers told reporters after the meeting.

The Supreme Court had, on Monday, directed the parties to complete pleadings in the case within ten days and then file an application for fixing an early date of hearing in the case.

"We are going to argue the merits of our case in the Supreme Court," the chief ministers said.
