Allam Veerbhadrappa is new Karnataka Cong president

Allam Veerbhadrappa, Karnataka's Minister of State for Horticulture, was on Wednesday appointed new PCC president in place of V S Koujalagi, who made an unceremonious exit last week in the wake of allegations of bribe taking.

Veerbhadrappa hails from Bellary district and belongs to the Lingayat community, to which Koujalagi also belongs.

The announcement was made by AICC General Secretary Ambika Soni who said Congress president Sonia Gandhi made the appointment.

The decision was taken two days after Chief Minister S M Krishna had a meeting with the Congress president.
