Manipur curfew relaxed for eleven hours

Indefinite curfew was relaxed for 11 hours from 0500 hours (IST) on Saturday in Manipur's valley districts of Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal, official sources said.

But there was no let up in patrolling by security and para-military forces, the sources added.

They said security forces had been deployed at all vulnerable points following reports of widespread sit-in protests against extension of the Centre-National Socialist Council of Nagaland (I-M) ceasefire to the state.

Meanwhile, people in small groups took out processions against the ceasefire in interior parts of the state, reports said.
