We can prove our majority in seven days: Thackeray

Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Wednesday claimed the Sena-BJP combine could prove its majority within seven days if called to do so.

Going by the numbers, the ruling Democratic Front coalition currently has only 138-139 legislators on its side, the Sena chief said. It needs 145 for a simple majority.

Expressing confidence that the saffron combine would come to power, he said it was only a question of days before it happened, a report in Saamna, quoting Thackeray, said.

He claimed that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had originally sought 15 days' time to prove his majority, but was granted 10 days by the governor.

If they fail to prove their majority, the Sena-BJP would definitely form the next government, he said.

We can prove our majority in seven days time, he asserted.
