The family of Harish Hitange, an Indian abducted in Poland, still do not have any official confirmation of his freedom though several reports said that he has been released.

Several reports said that Saamtex, the textile company where Hitange worked in Warsaw, has paid a ransom amount of Rs 7 crores to the abductors.

Indian Ambassador to Poland Anil Wadhwa reportedly said on Sunday that Hitange's employers had agreed to pay the ransom.

"I have no news about the release of my son-in-law. No one from the government has called me," K P Nepali, father-in-law of Hitange, told rediff.com "It is only the mediapersons who are calling me and saying this news. There is no official confirmation from the government side."

"My daughter Rekha (Harish Hitange) is in Nashik at present. She too has also not been informed, as far as I know. I only hope this news is true and my son-in-law returns soon to India," said Nepali.

Hitange was kidnapped on April 20, 2004 from Warsaw when he was returning home from work. Apparently the kidnappers have chopped off three of his fingers to press their ranson demand.
