The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday took over the ten cases registered in connection with the stamp paper scam in Karnataka.

The Karnataka government handed over the cases, which were being investigated by STAMPIT, to a team of CBI officials headed by Joint Director Archana Ramasundaram and Deputy Inspector General Prabhat Kumar, state principal secretary, home department, K P Pandey said in Bangalore.

Earlier, Ramasundaram and Kumar held extensive discussions for more than an hour with Pandey, Director General of Police T Madiyal and STAMPIT chief Sreekumar.

Pandey and Sreekumar briefed the CBI team about the STAMPIT investigations and the 16 charge sheets filed in this connection.

The Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to investigate all the 48 cases connected with the scam across the country.

The Karnataka government wrote to the CBI two months back, requesting it to investigate the scam.

STAMPIT will be wound up now that the cases are with the CBI.
