The claimants have made Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the then Minister of State for Home Gordhan Zadafiya and 12 others party to the suit.

The civil judge in Himmatnagar has admitted the suit and fixed May 6 as the date for hearing.

According to the police, on February 28, 2002, a rioting mob had intercepted the four-wheeler in which the two UK nationals were travelling near Prantij town in Sabarkantha district and allegedly burnt them to death.

The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured.

The victims were on their way to Surat from Jaipur in Rajasthan when the incident occurred.
