Terming as 'not fair' the trial at the military court that found her guilty of five charges and ordered her dismissal from service, Indian Air Force Flying Officer Anjali Gupta on Thursday said she would go for appeal in a civil court.

"I feel great that they (general court martial) have given us a very good case about appealing in the higher court and to be appreciated by the civil judges outside," she told reporters soon after the general court martial announced its verdict.

"After putting up my defence line, the court, the jury sitting there (I thought) would appreciate our line of defence. However, they are not in a position to fully appreciate the line of defence.

"I believe the civil court might appreciate the whole thing because there were lots of, lots of fraud that were done in this particular episode," Gupta said.

Gupta said the GCM trial was not fair as the defence counsel was not allowed to cross-examine the witnesses produced by the prosecution.

The defence counsel's appeal for checking the authenticity of documents by the government examiners was also turned down.

According to her, relying on the witnesses who were not cross-examined by defence counsel are not allowed under any court of law.

"So, the evidence stands null and void. They have given us a good case for appeal in High Court", she said.
