Many information technology firms in the city including one office each of the Wipro [Get Quote] and Hinduja TMT [Get Quote], were flooded on Tuesday following the heavy downpour.

The Wipro's office on Hosur Road was completely flooded and the company said it has made arrangements for the employees to work in its other offices in the city.

The downpour since Sunday affected one of the four delivery locations of HTMT, an IT/BPO firm but the company claimed it has restored its full operations after invoking a 'well-rehearsed' business continuity and disaster recovery plan.

HTMT MD and CEO K Thiagarajan said the disaster recovery strategy has helped restore the company's full operations within 24-36 hours for all its customers.

"There is some damage at HTMT House and the extent of it is currently being assessed but being comprehensively insured, the damage will be covered," he said.

Some small firms in Bommanahalli area were also hit.

Bangalore is home to more than 1,000 IT and IT-related firms. The Hosur road leading to Electronics City on Bangalore outskirts was clogged, and commuters had a harrowing time.

However, the Electronics City, which houses big names in the IT sector, including Infosys [Get Quote], remained unaffected by and large.
