India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka [Images] Nirupama Rao was on Wednesday named as the next envoy to China.
She will succeed Nalin Surie who is tipped to return to the headquarters as secretary.
Rao, a 1973-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, was posted to Colombo in August 2004. Prior to her posting in Colombo, she had served in Delhi as external affairs ministry spokesperson.
