The Indian Institute of Science complex in Bengaluru [Images] received a hoax bomb threat on Tuesday morning, when an anonymous called claimed that a bomb would explode inside the premises by 11 am.

The IISc received the call at approximately 9.30 am today morning. The caller said that a bomb has been placed somewhere in the campus and it would go off by 11 am. Security personnel immediately informed the police about the call.

A police team, accompanied by the bomb and dog squads, rushed to the spot and cordoned off the entire area.

A massive search operation has been launched inside the sprawling 150-acre campus. However, no bomb was found in the campus, and the police believe it was a hoax call.

But the police are taking no chances and they are continuing their search of the campus The security around the IISc premises has been tightened and visitors are being thoroughly screened.

The police are also trying to trace the hoax call. According to them, preliminary investigations reveal that the call may have been made from Bengaluru.
