At least 3 persons were injured when three bombs went off near a stadium and an arts complex in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore [Images] late Saturday night.

The first two blasts occurred shortly after 10.30 pm outside the Al-Hamra Arts Council and the third occurred after a short while outside the near-by Gaddafi stadium while police were evacuating people from the area.

Police officials said at least three persons were injured in the blast. Interior Ministry Chief Rehman Malick told media persons that the blasts were carried out using Improvised Explosive Devices. He said an inquiry has been ordered into the attack.

The organisers of the World Performing Arts Festival being held at the Al-Hamra Arts council earlier said they had received an anonymous threat to stop the event.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani [Images] condemned the blasts.
