Pakistan said on Saturday night that its "hands are clean", it had nothing to hide and that it is not involved in the Mumbai terror attacks but offered unconditional support and assistance to India to unearth the hands behind the incident.

Describing the attacks in Mumbai as "ghastly" incidents, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the "situation is serious" when a neighbouring country faces such terror strikes and "as a responsible government we cannot be oblivious to the serious situation".

Addressing a press conference after the emergency Cabinet meeting to discuss the situation arising out of the Mumbai terror strikes, he hoped the incidents would not affect relations with India and that "we will overcome the hiccups" in ties and "move forward".

"We will cooperate... Our hands are clean. We have nothing to hide. We have nothing to be ashamed of," he said while replying to a volley of questions about India's contention that elements based in Pakistan were responsible for the terror strikes in Mumbai.
