Kiwi team gains 233-run first innings lead

The Central Districts gained a healthy advantage over India by stumps on the second day of the four-day cricket match at McLean Park today.

The New Zealand team was dismissed for 336 in its first innings, a lead of 233 over the tourists.

Indian openers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ajay Jadeja managed to reduce the deficit by 54 runs in 13 overs before the close.

Captain Craig Spearman (85), Mathew Sinclair (52), and New Zealand youth captain Jarrod Englefield (63) were the leading run-getters for Central.

India's most successful bowler was medium-pacer Debashish Mohanty with four for 69. B K Venkatesh Prasad finished with three for 100.
