Barlow pleased with Bangladesh team moraleBangladesh's new coach former South African cricketer Eddie Barlow said today the morale of his team was high ahead of a visit by the West Indies next month. ''The morale of Bangladesh players is high especially after their recent success in the World Cup'', said Barlow after conducting his first training session on Wednesday. Bangladesh defeated Pakistan and Scotland in their maiden World Cup in England in May. Barlow succeeded former West Indian opening batsman Gordon Greenidge, who was sacked during the World Cup after a row with Bangladesh Cricket Board officials over team selection. The West Indies will begin a 10-day tour on October 1 and are due to play a three-day match and two one-day internationals before travelling to Sharjah to participate in a tri-nation tournament. Barlow said he had opportunities to watch the West Indians carefully in South Africa. ''I have given attention to the batsmen to improve their patience and it's a must for them. I am satisfied with the spirit of Bangladesh players,'' said Barlow. Barlow, 59, played 30 Tests and scored 2,561 runs which included six centuries and 15 half centuries. He also took 40 wickets for an average of 34.05 runs with best figures of five for 85. UNI
