Moin Khan to lead Pakistan

Pakistan captain Wasim Akram and fellow Test players Ijaz Ahmad and Salim Malik were missing from the squad announced today for next week's one-day series against West Indies in Toronto.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said the suspended trio would not be considered until cleared of match-fixing and betting allegations by an inquiry commission that is expected to deliver its final report next week. All three deny the accusations.

Wicketkeeper Moin Khan will lead the team. Saqlain Mushtaq, whose spin bowling played a major role in Surrey's English county championship success, was made vice-captain.

Controversial former captain Aamir Sohail was recalled but all-rounder Shahid Afridi was dropped.

Sohail last led Pakistan in the defeat by Zimbabwe in November. He was dropped after a clash with board officials and missed visits to India, Sharjah and the World Cup.

Pakistan will play the West Indies on September 16, 17 and 19. They were due to face India originally, but the games were cancelled because of tensions over Kashmir.

The team:
Moin Khan (captain), Saeed Anwar, Wajahatullah Wasti, Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Yousuf Youhanna, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Aamir Sohail, Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed, Hassan Raza, Saqlain Mushtaq, Arshad Khan, Shabbir Ahmed.
