Domestic cricket is Muthiah's priority

Board of Control for Cricket in India president A C Muthiah today said he will accord priority to the development of the domestic cricket and take every conceivable step to ensure that it is back on track.

Speaking to Sportstime, a daily programme on Doordarshan's news and current affairs channel, Muthiah said he will also ensure that India produces a battery of world class pace bowlers.

Muthiah said it is wrong to say that not many new faces come into the BCCI and same faces are seen again and again. ''In fact, state and zonal associations have full freedom to choose their nominees for these meetings,'' he said.

About the need for reconciliation in the BCCI in view of the recent developments, Muthiah countered that there were no problems. ''I don't know what problems you are talking of when all decisions are being taken by a majority vote.''

Muthiah also assured that he will personally look into the allegations of betting and match-fixing. About lack of funds with the state associations, the newly-appointed BCCI chief said it is simply not true as the BCCI was ensuring through various means that their coffers had sufficient funds.
