Mohota held, slips to third place

Nisha Mohota (6.5) drew with fourth seed C. Vikboya (6.0) of Lithuvania in the 10th round to slip to third place in the World Junior Chess championship in Yerevan, Armenia, today.

Yesterday, she demolished China's Kuang Yinghal to move to the second place.

Today, playing black, Nisha employed Slav defence and took the initiative from the opening game. She gained a pawn on the 35th move and could have won easily, but commited a silly mistake on the 42nd move and had to return the extra pawn. The game ended in a draw on the 45th move.

Kouvatson Maria of Greece continue to lead in the girls' section. She was almost in a lost position in the 10th round, when her opponent Gritsayeva Oksana (6) of Ukraine lost on time. Vagda Szrdinia of Romania and Jackova Jana of Czeck are following with 7 points each. Three more rounds are left in this championship.

In the boys' section, India's Sundararajan Kidambi is still on 4.5 points. He lost to D. Titomin (5.5) of Bulgaria. Kidambi could not handle the Reti opening and allowed his apponent to have good central all over the board and resigned in the 45th more.

Gandmaster Golkin Alaxender (8) of Russia agreed for a quick draw on table No.1 with Naumann Alaxender (7.5) of Germany to maintain a half point lead.

Top seed Kesomdznov Rustom (7) also played a draw with Aronian Leven (7) of Armenia.
