Macgill fined for unruly conduct

Australian leg spinner Stuart Macgill has been fined and reprimanded after an incident in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo, team officials said today.

''He has been fined and reprimanded for unruly conduct,'' Australian team manager Steve Bernard said.

Bernard declined to give details of the incident but said that Macgill had received a substantial fine after a hearing that involved the team management.

''The matter is now closed,'' Bernard said, adding that the incident would not affect Macgill's chances of being considered for the third Test against Sri Lanka that begins in Colombo on Thursday.

Macgill and the Australian squad returned to Colombo on Sunday after heavy rains forced the second Test to be drawn in southern Galle.

Macgill has not played since the opening tour match that preceded the first Test against the Sri Lankans in Kandy.

Sri Lanka lead the three-Test series 1-0. Australia need to win the third Test if they are to avoid their first series loss to the hosts.
