Chandok-Lal win South India rally

With JK Tyres drivers predictably dominating in the absence of traditional rivals Team MRF, Vicky Chandok and navigator Sandeep Lal, who drove a Mitsubishi Lancer, emerged victorious in Group A in the 36th South India rally, according to the final results released in Madras on Tuesday.

While Vicky and Sandeep finished with the least penalties of 1:42:16 seconds, their JK Tyres teammates former champion Hari Singh and G. S. Mann, also in a Mitsubishi Lancer, had 1:49:35 seconds penalties to finish second, ahead of the JK Tyres' rally team of Gaurav Gill and Aditya Jaswal (1:52:39), driving a Group N Maruti Esteem.

In Group N category (Maruti Esteems), another JK Tyres team comprising Samir Thappar and Rajiv Khanna (1:52:39) was placed second while P G Abhilash and Chinnappa (1:53:04) finished third position.
