Top seeds to clash in final

Top seed Rachael Grinham of Australia, who won by default, with her older sister conceding the semi-final match, will cross swords with second seed Salma Shabona of Egypt in the final of the Women's International Squash Players Association's Indian Open 2000 in Madras.

The match between Rachael and Natalie turned out to be tame affair. Rachael won the first game 9-0 and was leading 3-0 in the second when Natalie conceded.

After the match, Natalie said she was suffering from an ankle injury, sustained on Friday during her match against Vaidehi Reddy of India.

The other match between Shabona and Senga Macfie of Scotland was a thrilling affair. Each waited for the other to yield points, and it was evident that the match could go the full distance.

In the decider, Shabona showed her class, rallying from the brink at 1-7, to score eight points in a row, and win 5-9, 9-2, 9-7, 4-9, 9-7 in 55 minutes.
