Martina Hingis in avenger modeMartina Hingis, the world's highest ranked women's player, trounced Amy Frazier 6-2, 6-1 in just 57 minutes to set up a semifinal meeting with reigning US Open champion Serena Williams in the semi final of the Los Angeles Open. Williams defeated Spain's Conchita Martinez in the other quarterfinal. For Hingis, the win -- which saw her at her dominant best -- came as revenge for her unceremonious ouster, by Frazier, from last week's San Diego WTA event. The win continued Hingis' dominant run, having won four and reached the finals of three other hardcourt events -- prime preparation for the upcoming US Open at Flushing Meadows, which will also be played on hardcourt. In the other semifinal, Lindsay Davenport will take on Russia's Elena Dementieva.
