Two frames up, Ritesh Shah loses

Ritesh Shah of India let New Zealand's Ben Farnworth off the hook and went down 3-4 in the Kheladi.com World under-21 snooker championship in Bangalore on Friday.

It was complete lack of concentration that cost the Indian cueist the match. Shah ran up a 2-0 lead, but from then on his game went haywire. He allowed his opponent to call the shots and level scores.

Shah took the fifth frame to lead 3-2, but Farnworth wrested the crucial sixth frame.

Trailing 31-57, Shah got the required break of 26 in the 17th visit but after clearing pink, he tried to play safe on black. Farnworth, who tried to clear black to the bottom right pocket, ended up potting on the top right to win the frame 64-57 and draw abreast 3-3.

Farnworth then put together a 68 break in the seventh to win the frame 100-01 and with it the match 4-3.

Rory McCarroll of Northern Ireland had a field day against India's Sohail Jairaj, blanking him 4-0 (91-14, 82-24, 89-0, 76-11).

However, Kamal Chawla drew applause from supporters when he crushed UAE's Ahmed A Md Khalifa 4-0 (59-0, 79-37, 67-33, 59-26).
