Ottey confirms she will run 100mFive-time Olympian Merlene Ottey confirmed on Monday that she had been picked to run the 100 metres in Sydney for Jamaica, despite a poor fourth place in trials. She had already been picked for the Jamaican women's 4x100 metres relay but had been campaigning for a slot in the main sprint. "I will run both the 100 metres and 100 metre relay," Ottey told reporters in Thessaloniki, where she will attend an international track meeting on Wednesday. "I showed that I am fit but now I have to be much, much faster in the Olympics," she said. Ottey, 40, was cleared to compete in July by the International Amateur Athletic Federation arbitration panel after testing positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone last year. The sprinter has run in every Olympics since Moscow in 1980. She has won seven Olympic medals in her five Games and 14 world championship medals, including two goals over 200 metres.
