SA crush England

Paul Adams grabbed three wickets for 42 runs as South Africa beat England by an innings and 37 runs in the fourth cricket Test at Capetown today to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

The slow left arm Chinaman bowler picked the wickets of Alec Stewart, C J Adams and Phill Tufnell after Graeme Pollock and Lance Klusener saw the England top order off with two wickets apiece to hasten South Africa's victory in four days.

Yesterday, Daryll Cullinan made a fighting century to keep South Africa on top on the third day despite some brilliant bowling by England fast bowler Chris Silverwood. Cullinan, whose 10th Test century equalled the South African record held by opener Gary Kirsten, made 120 in a South African total of 421, which gave them a first innings lead of 163. He batted for 351 minutes, faced 255 balls and hit ten fours and a six.

Silverwood, 25, who joined the tour as a replacement following an injury to Dean Headley, took a career-best five for 91 in his fourth Test match.
