ATP official impressed with KSLTA courts

A senior official of the Association of Tennis Professionals Tour today inspected the courts at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association, which is likely to host the ATP World Doubles championship in December.

"I am impressed with the venue, especially the weather, and it will be much more beautiful in December," said Brad Drewett, executive vice-president, director ATP Tour.

Drewett, a former top-20 Australian tennis player, told reporters that the KSLTA plans to give the stadium a face-lift and bring it up to international standards.

Drewett, who arrived from Sydney today will be flying back to London to attend the ATP board meeting on June 25. Prior to this, his inspection report will be placed before the Players and Tournament council, Drewett added.

"By the second week of July, the entire process will be over. If Bangalore would not have been a potential venue, I would not have come here and visited it," he said.

On the KSLTA plan to seek a wild card for Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, he said, "The format does not allow but we have an open mind and it should cause no worry," Drewett added.
