BSF, CISF in Beighton finalBorder Security Force pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over defending champions Punjab and Sind Bank to set up a summit clash with Central Industrial Security Force in the Beighton Cup hockey tournament, in Calcutta, on Saturday. Striker Sushil Kujur produced a brilliant field goal in the 52nd minute of the semi-final to seal the fate of the holders, in a game which seldom rose to great heights. In the other semi-final, CISF prevailed over Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation 2-0. Sushil Kumar (45th) and G V Xaxa (53rd) were the scorers. PSB, boasting of as many as eight internationals, had themselves to blame for the debacle as they tended to play too defensive while the midfield also did not live upto expectations when it mattered most. After a barren opening session, BSF forged ahead when Sushil Kujur slammed home following a lovely centre from the right flank by Shinu Herenz. PSB tried to force the pace of the game after conceding the goal but failed to find the equaliser with their rivals packing the defence and foiling most of the goalbound moves. The defending champions got as many as five penalty corners in the game but could not capitalise a single one while the securitymen got three. The other semi-final turned out to be a one-sided contest with CISF dominating the contest right through against their opponents who had made their maiden appearance in the last four stage.
