India rout Russia: Poznan hockey

India routed Russia 12-1 to score their second victory from three matches in the six-nation under-21 Junior Challenge hockey tournament at Poznan, Poland, on Thursday.

They led 5-0 at half-time.

Rajpal Singh (3), Raju Raju (2), Prabodh Tirkey (2) Inderrjeet Singh, Sandeep Michael, Pratap Amarjeet, Bikramjit Singh and Vikram Pillay scored for India while Alexandr Yirkov reduced the margin for Russia.

Earlier, India had lost to Germany 1-4 in their second match.

Max Landshut, with two goals from penalty-corners, Florian Keller and Rainer Kraile scored for the Germans while Bikramjit Singh scored from a field goal for India,

In other matches on Thursday, Germany recorded third straight victory, beating Poland 6-2 while Malaysia upset England 4-2.

After three rounds, Germany lead the six-team table with three victories, having beaten Russia 9-2 and India 4-1. India are second. India had beaten Malaysia 3-2 in their opening match.
