Jordan's Wizards run out of tricksMichael Jordan scored 28 points on 11-of-28 shooting but could not carry Washington to their 10th consecutive victory as the Charlotte Hornets rallied to a 99-93 victory over the surprising Wizards on Wednesday. Elden Campbell had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Baron Davis added 15 points and a career-high 15 assists for Charlotte. Washington had its largest lead, 67-58, with seven minutes left in the third quarter but made just 10-of-39 shots thereafter. Charlotte closed the quarter on a 15-5 run and took the lead for good, 73-72, on a pair of free throws by Lee Nailon with six seconds left. Stacey Augmon scored six of his 10 points in the final period as the Hornets won for the ninth time in the last 11 meetings with the Wizards. Tyronn Lue and Popeye Jones scored 15 points apiece as Washington played without Richard Hamilton, who was placed on the injured list before the game with a pulled right groin. In Cleveland, Jason Kidd had 25 points and a season-high 13 rebounds and rookie Richard Jefferson added 16 and nine as the New Jersey Nets held on for a 91-89 victory over the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers. Kidd has almost single-handedly rejuvenated the Nets since coming moving from Phoenix in the offseason trade that sent star guard Stephon Marbury to Phoenix. He dominated early and came up huge in the final minutes as the Nets notched their eighth road win, matching last season's total. New Jersey dominated the first half, leading by as many as 23 points in the second quarter, but were outplayed thoroughly after halftime and led by just a basket before Kidd nailed a 3-pointer to make it 89-84 with 68 seconds left. Chris Mihm had 19 points and nine rebounds and Andre Miller added 14 and 13 assists for Cleveland. ROCKETS HELD In Houston, Stephon Marbury had 33 points as the Phoenix Suns held off the Houston Rockets, 97-91. Marbury stepped up down the stretch, scoring eight of the Suns' final 11 points. His layup put Phoenix ahead for good, 87-86, with 1:52 to play and Rodney Rogers nailed a 3-pointer less than a minute later to extend the lead to 92-86. In Memphis, Tennessee, Pau Gasol scored 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting and added 14 rebounds and fellow rookie Shane Battier contributed 21 points as the Memphis Grizzlies posted their third straight home win over the Chicago Bulls, 107-85. Chicago suffered its 15th straight road loss to start the season, remaining the NBA's lone winless team away from home. Gasol and Battier, the third and sixth overall picks in the 2001 NBA draft, continued to shine for the Grizzlies. They entered the game as the league's top two rookie scorers at 15.1 and 14.9 points per game, respectively. Jason Williams had 21 points and 14 assists for the Grizzlies. HAWKS DENIED In Milwaukee, Glenn Robinson scored 16 of his 32 points in the third quarter as the Bucks rallied from an 11-point deficit for a 107-97 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 17 points in the first half as Atlanta led by as many as 11 before taking a 54-49 cushion into the locker room. A 3-pointer by Robinson with just over five minutes left in the third quarter put Milwaukee ahead for the first time at 70-68. In Orlando, Florida, Jermaine O'Neal had 20 points and 13 rebounds and Al Harrington scored 14 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as the Pacers held off the Orlando Magic, 89-82, for their third consecutive victory. Reggie Miller, who has made more than his share of big shots in a 16-year career, came up with the big play on the defensive end to seal the win. After Harrington's jumper made it 83-80 with 1:08 left, Miller stole Pat Garrity's inbounds pass and raced the length of the court for an easy layup. In his first game in 10 days, Tracy McGrady led Orlando with 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting. He missed the previous three games with a lower back sprain. SPURS DEFLATED In San Antonio, Steve Nash drilled a 3-pointer with less than a second to go in overtime to give the Dallas Mavericks a 126-123 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, who received an NBA season-high 53 points from Tim Duncan. Duncan scored seven straight points, including a three-point play, as San Antonio grabbed a 123-120 lead with 1:14 remaining in the extra session. He missed a chance to extend the lead with 37 seconds left and Tim Hardaway tied it with a 3-pointer eight seconds later. After Malik Rose turned over the ball on the Spurs' next possession, Dallas held for the final shot. Nash, who scored 27 points, pulled up from way beyond the arc and drilled the jumper with six-tenths of a second left. Duncan made 19-of-28 shots and converted all 15 free throws.
