India win five-nation hockeyIndia won the third Akhbar El Yom international hockey tournament in Cairo on Friday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over hosts Egypt in the final. The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regular time and the Indians clinched the issue in extra-time. Brojen Singh drew the first blood for India in the second half, after the first half went goalless. He struck again in extra-time to give the Indians a well-deserved victory in the five-nation tournament. India, represented by their second string, finished the tournament unbeaten. They defeated Belgium 4-1 and France 4-2 before thrashing Kenya 6-0 in the league matches. Their only draw came against Egypt, with the score tied at 4-4.
