FIFA armband for most-capped internationalA special armband will be worn by the Egypt's Hossam Hassan, currently the most-capped international still playing for his country, FIFA said on Wednesday. FIFA president Sepp Blatter and former France captain Michel Platini will present Hassan with a souvenir medal, a diploma and the armband on Sunday in Cairo at the laying of the foundation stone for the new African Football Confederation headquarters. The armband "will serve to mark him out as a still active national team player holding the world record in the number of times he has played for his national team", a FIFA statement said. "This armband will be worn henceforth to indicate the still active national team player who holds the world record in international appearances," it said. Hassan became the most capped soccer player of all time on January 9 when earned his 151st cap for Egypt. The previous record of 150 was set by Germany's Lothar Matthaeus.
