Paes-Bhupathi through to Houston finalsThe second-seeded Indian pair of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi entered the finals of the $350,000 US Claycourt Championships being played at Houston. The Indians got past the unseeded pair of Paul Macpherson/Grant Stafford 7-6, 5-7, 6-1 in the semis and will now face the unseeded American pair of Kevin Kim/Jim Thomas in the finals, to be played on Sunday. The Kevin Kim/Jim Thomas defeated George Bastl/Irakli Labadze 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 in the semi-final. This is the second straight finals for the Indians in two weeks, as the once world-top ranked pair seek to recapture lost glory. They had won the Verizon Atlanta Challenge last week, defeating top seeds Rick Leach and David MacPherson.
