Mauresmo jumps three places in world rankingsAmelie Mauresmo jumped three places in the WTA Tour rankings on Monday following her victory over Australian Open champion Jennifer Capriati in the German Open final. Mauresmo now equals her highest world ranking of sixth. The athletic Frenchwoman now has a 27-2 record for the year, making her the most prolific of all top players in the women's game in 2001. The 21-year-old, who made her breakthrough on the Berlin clay three years ago by reaching the final after entering the event as a qualifier, showed great composure to win her first encounter with Capriati. Last year's German Open champion Conchita Martinez – who beat Mauresmo in that final three years ago -- slipped from seventh to 14th after failing to defend her title. Switzerland's Martin Hingis still leads the rankings with 5,725 points. She is pursued by four Americans, Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Capriati and Monica Seles. 1 (1) Martina Hingis (Switzerland) 5,725 points. 2 (2) Venus Williams (U.S.) 5,074 3 (3) Lindsay Davenport (U.S.) 4,378 4 (4) Jennifer Capriati (U.S.) 3,338 5 (5) Monica Seles (U.S.) 2,749 6 (9) Amelie Mauresmo (France) 2,472 7 (6) Serena Williams (U.S.) 2,319 8 (11) Anna Kournikova (Russia) 1,926 9 (10) Elena Dementieva (Russia) 1,886 10 (8) Amanda Coetzer (South Africa) 1,849 11 (12) Nathalie Tauziat (France) 1,819 12 (14) Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario (Spain) 1,740 13 (13) Kim Clijsters (Belgium) 1,708 14 (7) Conchita Martinez (Spain) 1,697 15 (15) Magdalena Maleeva (Bulgaria) 1,660 16 (18) Justine Henin (Belgium) 1,591 17 (17) Mary Pierce (France) 1,456 18 (16) Anke Huber (Germany) 1,373 19 (19) Chanda Rubin (U.S.) 1,355 20 (21) Meghann Shaughnessy (U.S.) 1,351
