Indian spikers fail to qualify

The Indian men's team narrowly failed to qualify for the World championship, finishing sixth in one of the three Asian qualification tournaments held at Doha from August 10 to 13.

According to a statement from Volleyball Federation of India secretary general K Murugan, India defeated Chinese Taipei 25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19; beat Qatar 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-14; but lost to Japan 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 21-25.

Five teams from Asia qualify from three qualification tournaments. Among the second placed teams of the three qualification tournaments, Kazakhstan qualified as the fourth team with a set average of 2 points (6/3 games) while Australia qualified as the fifth team with a set average of 1.5 points (6.4 games).

India finished sixth with 1.4 points (7/5 games).

The top 24 teams in the world will participate in the World senior men's championship.
