Rushmi Chakravarty upsetKarishma Patel battled past Boda Nischella Reddy to win 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and move into the semifinals of the Indian Oil Servo ITF women's tennis championship in Madras on Thursday. She will take on Ipok Senoglu, of Turkey, who defeated Ankita Bhambri 6-2, 6-0 in the other quartefinal match. The other semifinal will be between two Indains -- Radhika Tulpule and Archana Venkataraman. Tulpule scalped second seeded Rushmi Chakravarty, winning 6-3, 6-4 while Venkataraman put paid to the aspirations of Sonal Phadke, winning 6-2, 7-5 in the other quartefinal matches. In the double's quarterfinals, Ankita Bhambri and Isha Lakhani defeated S K Tara and Karishma Patel 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, while Sheetal Goutam and Liza Pereira got the better of Geeta Manohar and Meha Vakaria 7-6 (8/6), 7-6 (7/2). In another match. Subha Srinivasan and Samrita Sekar scored over Radhika Mandke and Sonal Phadke 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. In the singles matches on Thursday evening, Senoglu had four breaks in the first set, in the 1st, 3rd and 5th games, and won the second set at love. In the match between Patel and Reddy, the former showed a lot of promise in the first set. Though the players traded breaks in the second set, Reddy earned vital points to level the set score. In the third, Patel decided to play from the baseline and waited for Reddy to commit errors, before winning the match.
