Sai, Liza have it easy

Seeded players Sai Jayalakshmi and Liza Pereira sailed into the women's singles second round with straight set wins over lesser-known opponents on the second day of the $5000 prize-money Indian Oil Servo ITF tennis tournament in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Seventh seed Liza, playing an attacking game, crushed Kalpita Raje 6-1, 6-0 in just half an hour while Hyderabad-based third seed Jayalakshmi needed 45 minutes to sideline Priyanka Mehta 6-3, 6-1.

In other first round matches, fourth seed Sonal Phadke, fifth seed Goutam Sheetal and unseeded Krushmi Chheda recorded easy wins.

Liza Pereira bt Kalpita Raje 6-1, 6-0; Sai Jayalakshmy bt Priyanka Mehta 6-3, 6-1; Goutam Sheetal bt Ashlesha Lokhande 6-2, 6-1; Sonal Phadke bt Manjot Marwah 6-1, 6-0; Krushmi Chheda bt Shraddha Lodha 6-1, 6-4.

Doubles (1st round): Alice Joy/Sandra Sasidharan bt Manjot Marwah/Kanisha Mehta 6-0, 6-0; Deepa Engade/Kalpita Raje bt Swathi Kandaswamy/Sonal Sanap 6-0, 4-6, 6-2; Archana Venkatraman/Samrita Sekar bt Geeta Manohar/Eveline Rusdianto 3-6, 6-2, 6-1; Krushmi Chheda/Mevi/ Kamini Murugaboopathy 6-4, 6-3.
