Estaugh and Rowley retain Enterprise sailing title
Reigning champions Richard Estaugh and Peter Rowley of Great Britain sailed away with the
first race and the overall title in the Sandpiper
Enterprise World sailing championships in Bogmalo, Goa, on Friday.
The champs did not need to sail in race ten, which was
won by India's Farokh Tarapore and P K Garg. Shane McCarthy
and Simon Cook of Ireland finished fourth in race nine and
second in race ten to come second overall.
India's Naresh Yadav and G L Yadav placed 15th in
race nine - their worst in the regatta so far - and fourth
in race ten, and had to be content with an overall third position.
Nick Craig and Claire Upton-Brown of Great Britain moved
to fourth after a third and a fourth today, pushing
countrymen Roger Gilbert and Alistair Fry, who placed fifth
and seventh in today's races, to end up overall fifth.
Aashim Mongia and R Mahesh's run of bad luck continued,
as a broken rudder forced them to miss race nine and collect
maximum penalty points.
In the second race they managed a poor eleventh place,
dropping to overall eighth position.
Gautam Dutta and Utpal More who, like Mongia and Mahesh,
had won two races, earned a sixth and fifth placing in today's
race, dropping to sixth place overall.
