Inbar, Dev Varman to clash
in boys' final
Amit Inbar of Israel demolished compatriot Dor Werteimer in straight sets to set up a title
clash with India's fifth seeded Somdev Dev Varman in the
boys' singles section in the Bharat Petroleum-ITF Junior World
ranking tennis tournament in Kolkata on Friday.
Inbar, who has displayed very good form right through the
championship, had no difficulty in disposing of Werteimer with
a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Somdev Dev Varman also did not face much resistance as he
spanked qualifier V M Ranjeet, winning 6-4, 6-2 in 70 minutes.
In the girls' singles section, second seeded Isha Lakhani
of India prevailed over Sun Sheng-Nan of China 6-2, 6-1 victory to romp into the final.
She will meet eighth seeded Du Rui of China, who unleashed an aggressive
brand of tennis to tame third seeded Sanaa Bhambri of India 6-0, 6-4.
The second seed duo of Amanjot Singh and Vikram Aditya
Menon of India clinched the boys' doubles crown with a
hard-fought 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over the third-seeded Indian
pair of Saurabh Kohli and Rishi Behl in a keenly-contested encounter.
The Chinese pair of Rui Du and Sheng Nan Sun claimed the
honour in the girls' doubles section with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph
over compatriots Hsuan Hwang and Yung Jan Yung.
