India's bid to stage the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010 has received support from Lord Swraj Paul, a member of the board set up to run the campaign for staging the 2012 Olympics in London.
The NRI industrialist called on Sports Minister Vikram Verma in New Delhi today and discussed the venue for the Commonwealth Games.
Lord Paul said New Delhi has excellent infrastructure and had successfully hosted the Asian Games in 1982 and deserved to host the mega event.
New Delhi and Hamilton, Canada, are the two cities bidding for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The voting to decide the host city will take place on November 13 in Kingston, Jamaica.
