World number seven Anju Bobby George failed to finish on the podium at the IAAF Japan Grand Prix after finishing fourth with a below par performance in Osaka on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Indian, who went into the meet as one of the favourites alongside Grace Upshaw of the USA, managed only a 6.46m.
Japan's Kumiko Ikeda emerged as the surprise winner claiming the gold with a leap of 6.65m. Upshaw won the silver with a jump of 6.58m while another home challenger Maho Hanaoka clinched the bronze clearing 6.57m.
