Shagun Chaudhary won the gold in the women's trap event on the inaugural day of the National Shooting Championships that was hampered by poor light conditions due to heavy fog in Delhi on Wednesday.
The competition began more than two hours behind schedule at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges with the trap and skeet shooters getting into action.
The only medal to be decided for the day was the women's trap and Shagun, representing Rajasthan, won with a total of 65 after the completion of three rounds.
Shagun began with a modest round of 18 but improved her accuracy to tally 20 and 22 in the last two rounds to easily beat back the challenge of Zoya Mehta of Punjab, who took the silver with a total of 47.
Army's Rajasree claimed the bronze with a total of 38.
In the men's trap, Indian Airlines's Zoravar Singh Sandhu was level with Punjab's Manavjit Singh Sandhu on 73 after three rounds.
Zoravar recorded 24, 25 and 24 while Manavjit, ranked 31 in the world, ended with a perfect third round after missing one bird each in the first two.
Trailing the duo were defending champion Andhra Pradesh's Mansher Singh and Anurudh Singh of Uttaranchal, both on 71. AP's Daniel Cnai was next on the leaderboard with a total of 69.
