Gopichand to lead India

About 100 shuttlers would vie for top honours in the eight-nation USD 10,000 Asian Satellite badminton tournament beiginning at Gachibowli indoor stadium here from from October 25.
The competition will be held in men's and women's singles and doubles, Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) President Durga Prasad told reporters on Wednesday.
Shuttlers from Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangaldesh, Iran and Nepal besides hosts India will be seen in action in the meet, he said.
India will be fielding a 16-member team in the competition while some of the young turks from Asia including Jeffer Rosobin of Indonesia will be taking part.
"We have a good chance this time around," Prasad said adding, India's chances had brightened up with China, Malaysia and Korea not taking part this time.
Being Grade A tournament, the winner will acquire 180 points, runner up 150, semifinalist 120 and quarterfinalist 90 points, he said adding, all the countries have confirmed their participation.
Qualifying rounds will be held on October 24 and the three-day tournament will be held simultaneously on four courts in two sessions.
