The Indian Hockey Federation has shortlisted three players, one of whom will replace injured drag-flicker Sandeep Singh in the hockey World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany [Images].

"Three players -- Raghunath, Jugraj Singh and Vikramjit Singh -- have been selected. They will accompany the Indian team and will take part in the practice matches in Cologne.

Taking their performance into account, the coach will select one of them for the mega event while the rest two will come back," IHF Chief of Protocol Suresh Sharma told PTI on Tuesday.

India will play some practice matches against Belgium in the run-up to the World Cup to be held from September 6-17.

Meanwhile, IHF sources said that the apex hockey body will bear all the medical expenses of Sandeep, and take every step for his speedy recovery.
