India's Saurav Ghosal, ranked 46 in the world, has entered the men's main draw at the Bear Sterns Tournament of Champions, registering emphatic wins over his respective opponents.
Ghosal qualified in the first round when he defeated David Barnett of England 11-8, 11-8, 11-8.
The final round saw the young national champion reaching the main draw by defeating another Englishman Chris Simpson 11-4, 11-8, 11-8.
Cyrus Poncha, National coach, SRFI, said "It is indeed remarkable and we at the ICL Squash Academy are feeling elated because of this success," a release from the Squash Rackets Federation of India said on Saturday.
This is Ghosal's second main draw appearance in a super series event after reaching the main draw in the Pakistan Open in November 2003. He is the only Indian to win a medal in squash at the Asian Games last year.
The world's top squash players take part in the Bear Sterns Tournament of Champions, a USD 70,000 PSA Super series event, the release said adding it is held annually at New York.
